15 Translating Stitch

Rubbings taken from paper relief surfaces and then interpreted in stitch. Some of the rubbings are too faint to show up in photos.

15.1. The rubbing suggested translucent triangle shapes. The effect was created in stitch by using detatched button hole stitch with netting strips interspersed withrows of cotton tape. Near the bottom the number of stitches was increased.
15.2 The effect was created with rows of fly stitch in various types of yarn and fabric strips.
15.3 Wheatsheaf stitch was used to create this effect.
15.4 This was stitched in cretan stitch using a fine boucle and 2 types of string. Unravelled sisal string was threaded through the stitching.

Some other rubbings not used for interpreting in stitch.
